Satopanth Lake Trekking

5 days (moderate)

Best time: June to the end of September.

It is a glacial lake surrounded by high snow capped peaks, 25 km from Badrinath.

The lake has 3 corners and a circumference of about 1 km; its height is 4330 m. above sea level.

Its name comes from the Hindu Triad – Brahma ,Vishnu & Mahesh –

and the belief is that each of its corners is occupied by one of Them.

The trek goes through rough and enchanting waterfalls with dramatic scenes.

The view from the lake is magnificent over lofty peaks: Chaukhamba Peaks & range, Neelkantha Peak,

Nar / Narayan Peaks, Mana Pea, and many other unnamed peaks we can see en route.

Wild animals and many different kinds of flowers & medicine plants are in this area.

One can trek to Kalandi Pass via Ghastoli and Arwa Tal.

Joshimath – Badrinath –   Vashudhara – Satopanth Tal (Lake).

Day 1: 45 km drive from Joshimath to Badrinath, sightseeing and overnight in hotel.

Day 2: 3 km drive to Mana + 5 km trek to Vashudhara with packed lunch. Overnight in camp.

Day 3: 4 km trek to Laxmi Van through dense forest + 3 km trek to Satopanth Lake;

back to Laxmi Van, overnight in camp.

Day 4: back to Badrinath, with the view over the Neelkhanta peak, overnight in hotel.

Day 5: Drive back to Joshimath, overnight in hotel.

Nandi Kund Trekking

6 days

There are some very old woods which are worshipped as belonging to the Pandavas.

It is a lake spread over an area of one and a half km.

The trail commands a beautiful view of lush green meadow and lofty snow covered peaks.

Day 1: 10 km trek to Urgam (village) + 2km trek to Kalpeshwar, overnight in camp.

Day 2 + 3: trek to Dumak and Nandi Kund.

Day 4 + 5: back from Nandi Kund to Urgam.

Day 6: back to Joshimath. Overnight in Hotel.

Kakbhusandi Tal (KanKul Khal)

6 to 8 days

Best time: June to mid. of July / September to mid. of October.

Short trek, which can be combined with the Valley of Flowers trek (8 days).

Day 1: Joshimath to Baldora, 10 km drive & 5 km trek to Painka village (lunch time),

+ 3 km trek to Khaldhar, overnight in camp.

Day 2: 6 km trek to Gaucha Udiyar with packed lunch, overnight in camp.

Day 3: 5 km trek to Kakbhusandi and overnight in camp.

Situated at the altitude of 4345m., the lake is surrounded by snow capped peaks,

and its clear blue water is shining in a meadow full of Brahmakamal and other flowers.

The lake is set up in the lap of the Hathi Parwat.

View: Barhmal Peak, Mana Peak, Hathi Ghodi Base, Raj Kharak, a flat meadow area covered with many variety of flowers,

while on the way one have to cross Bhunar river, which comes from the sources of the Mana range & Hathi Glaciers.

Day 4: 6 km trek to Raj Kharak, overnight in camp.

Day 5: 9 km trek to Bhundar, overnight in camp.

To trek to the Valley of Flowers is also a good option.

3 more days from Bhundar: first to Ghangaria, then to the Valley of Flowers,

then back to Joshimath.The trek route is in glacial moraines and slippery rocks over a long distance

from Kakbhusandi to the Valley of Flowers.

Day 6: 7 km trek to Govindghat, further motor road to Joshimath, overnight in hotel.

DEORIA TAL Trekking

4 days

Day 1: Drive to Ukhimath + 10 km to Sari (village), overnight in camp.

Day 2: 3 km trek to Deoria Tal, overnight in camp, with a great view over the Chaukhamba Peaks.

Day 3: Trek back to Ukhimath, overnight in hotel.

Day 4: Drive back to Rishikesh/ Joshimath.

 

DODI TAL Trekking

7 days

Day 1: Drive to Uttarakashi + 11 km trek to Kalayani Village, overnight in camp.

Day 2: 5 km trek to Agoda, overnight in camp.

Day 3: 8 km trek to Dodi Tal, overnight in camp.

Day 4/ 5/ 6: Trek back to Uttarakashi, overnight in hotel.

Day 7: Drive back to Rishikesh/ Joshimath…

 

KEDAR TAL  Trekking

8 days

Day 1: Drive to UttarkashiGangotri, overnight in camp.

Day 2: 8 km trek to Bhojkharak, overnight in camp.

Day 3: 4 km trek to Kedar Kharak, overnight in camp.

Day 4: 5 km trek to Kedar tal, overnight in camp.

Day 5: Back to Kedar Kharak, overnight in camp.

Day 6: 8 km trek back to Bhojkharak and overnight in camp.

Day 7: Trek back to Gangotri.

Day 8: Drive to Rishikesh/ Joshimath…

 

VASUKITAL Trekking

11 days

Day 1: Drive to Gangotri, overnight in camp.

Day 2: 9 km trek to Chirbasa, overnight in camp.

Day 3: 7 km trek to Bhojbasa, overnight in camp.

Day 4: 4 km trek to Gaumukh, overnight in camp.

Day 5: Trek to Nandanvan, overnight in camp.

Day 6: 6 km trek to Vaskital, overnight in camp.

Day 7/ 8/ 9/ 10: Trek back to Gangotri.

Day 11: Drive back to Rishikesh/ Joshimath.
