Trekking to Chandratal Lake |
Chandratal Trek : Base of Deo Tibba trek
Duration : 7 Days Season : June to October Summary : This trek leads out of the tiny villages of Khanul a little distance away from Jagatsukh. Climbs steadily through evergreen forests and meadows, alongside numerous streams. An easy trek with some of the most beautiful box in manali region affording magnificent mountainscape. |
Day 1 : Manali to Jagatsukh and Khamul : Duration 3 Hrs (2220m)
A six km motorable road leads to the villages of Jagasukh after which the trail winds upwards alongside the Bahngan Nulah from Khanmul which is the first day camp, the Manali valley Tibba. Along the way to Khanul green forests with an amazing variety of vegetation do the way.
Day 2 : Khanul to Chhika : Duration 4 Hrs. (2960m) The six kms long trail goes along an alpine plateaus and is almost a gradual incline. All around the trail life excellent rock climbing hills. Camp at Chhika.
Day 3 : Chhika to Seri : Duration 4 to 5 Hrs. (3390m). Today the trail continuous uphills for 5 kms and the sudden appearance of Deo Tibba is breath taking. Seri was once a glaciated lake, but is now a meadow carpeted with an astounding variety of herbs and alpine flowers. Camp in this fairyland beneath a clear blue sky twinkling with a million stars.
Day 4 : Seri to Taina Alpine Plateau : Duration 4 to 5 hrs. (4440m). The flora enthusiast will have a wonderful time trying to identify the hundreds of flowers growing every where. Provides some excellent views of Deo Tibba and other peaks of Manali and Spiti ranges. Camp at either place.
Day 5 : Taina to Chander Tal and back to Seri : Duration 5 to 6 Hrs.(3390 mt) Today visit to Chandertal lake and walk through to glacier and climb to the lake back to Seri.
Day 6 : Seri to Bhanara villages : Duration 6 to 7 hrs. (2300 m). Leaving this wonderland behind, the trail descends downwards back to the forests that lie above Manali. Canp is at the village of Bhanara.
Day 7 : Bhanara to Manali : Duration 3 hrs.(2000m) There is a ancient temple at Bhanara, Here Arjun Gufa is the place where Arjuna did Penance. Itinerary Terms are available upon request. |
