From an altitude of nearly 3000 meter from the sea level, with a vertical drop of 529 meter, the snowy slopes of Auli can bring the best – or alternately, the worst – in you. For, sliding down the beaten snow on skis at a speed of 20-40 km per hour can be a thrilling or harrowing experience, as the case may be. While coming down, perched on two precarious all your attention is nailed on the view in front of you, the way it is during a video game.

Auli Ski Trip

Skiing is one of the sports that has gained immense popularity all over the world and also in India and in the past decade have become quiet attention grabbing sport because of the Himalayas. The vast open spaces above the snowline have flung open to the skiing enthusiasts. A plethora of ski locales in Jammu and Kashmir, Auli ski trip, the North eastern states of India have become the favourite ski areas of adventure lovers.

BEST TIME: Mid- Jan to mid- Feb

DAY 1

Depart Delhi for Snow Leopard Adventures Camp for skiing holidays. Lunch on arrival. Camp orientation talk and briefing of the day’s plan. Post lunch at leisure / kayaking around camp / beach activities / rafting session and skiing adventure. O/n in camp.

DAY 2

After an early breakfast, drive to Joshimath (270 kms). Take the 3.9 kms cable car (the longest in Asia) to the scenic and picturesque Auli Ski resort. Overnight at Auli.

DAY 3, 4, 5

Skiing at Auli on a full board basis. All skiing equipment will be provided. There is one poma lift and one chair car at the Auli ski resort. Instruction for skiing if required will be provided by qualified instructors. The ski slopes command a panoramic view of high Himalayan peaks including Nanda Devi (7818 mts), the second highest mountain in India. Seasonal skiers have a clean stretch of 10.20-kms of absolutely virgin slopes to sport on. These slopes are excellent opportunities for cross country and downhill skiing events.

DAY 6

Transfer from Auli to Joshimath by cable car. Drive back to Shivpuri. Packed lunch enroute. Evening relax around a merry campfire. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.

DAY 7

Drive back to Delhi.
